A 13-year old boy has landed in trouble as has been arrested for allegedly engaging a neighbour’s 5-year old girl in sex in Lagos State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Folaranmi Street by K&S Bus Stop, Abaranje area of Ikotun, Lagos, where they reside.
According to the Police, the boy allegedly lured the victim into a place, removed her pants and then her private part before they were caught and the information got to the victim’s parents.
The matter was reported to the Police at Ikotun Division. The boy was arrested and detained at the station for interrogation over his alleged conduct.
During interrogation, the boy was said to have admitted to have done so but that he was not able to penetrate her private part during the act.
The victim’s parents insisted that they wanted the Police to prosecute him and so he was subsequently charged before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence.
However, the Court did not take his plea when he was arraigned following a motion moved by the prosecutor, Supol Akeem Raji, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice because of the nature of the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. B.O. Osunsanmi, ordered him to be kept in a remand home pending the outcome of DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP.
The matter was adjourned for mention for the report of the DPP’s advice to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
The names of the victim and the defendant were withheld because they are still minors in line with the policy of P.M.EXPRESS.
