Housewife, 30, Arrested For Stealing Husband’s N6.3m

A 30-year old housewife, Mrs. Deborah Olujaiye, has been arrested and charged for allegedly stealing the sum of N6.3m belonging to her husband, Joseph Olujaiye, in Osun State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 19th August, 2024, at Olude area of Osogbo, where they reside.
The Police alleged that the housewife, Deborah, withdrew the huge sum of money in question from her husband’s bank account without his approval.
After her arrest and interrogation, she was found culpable and consequently charged to Court for the alleged offence.
The Police prosecutor, Inspector Adeoye Kayode, told the Court that the defendant stole the money belonging to her husband and thereby committed a criminal offence under the law.
The charge read: “That you, Olujaiye Deborah, on the 19th day of August, 2024, at about 10:00pm at Olude Area, Osogbo, in the Osogbo Magisterial District, did steal the sum of Six Million Three Hundred and Thirty-Three Thousand Seven Hundred Naira (N6,333,700:00) only, property of one Olujaiye Joseph and thereby committed an offence of stealing contrary to and punishable under Section 390(9) of the Criminal Code CAP 34 Vol. II Laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2002.”
She pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Her defence counsel, Tunbosun Oladipupo, made effort to move for oral bail application but the Presiding Magistrate, M. A. Olatunji, asked the defence to approach the Court for a formal bail application.
The matter was adjourned till 20th November, 2024, for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center pending when the Court will hear the application for her bail.
