Man, 26, Arrested For Stealing Company’s Cables Worth N6.8m

Police operatives from the Lagos State Command have arrested a 26-year old man, Jamiu Musa, for allegedly stealing cables worth N6.845m belonging to a company called LEDCO Limited.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Cele Link Bridge, Okota area of Lagos, where the cables were installed before the suspect, Musa, conspired with others now at large to steal them.
According to the Police, the suspect and others now at large conspired in the early hours of the morning on 27th July, 2024, cut the cables and escaped.
The matter was reported to the Police at Ilasamaja Division. The operatives moved into action and arrested one of the suspects, Musa and detained him at the station for interrogation over the alleged conduct.
During interrogation, the Police discovered that Musa committed the act with others but he refused to mention their identities and took responsibility for their action.
The Police found him culpable and consequently charged him before the Isolo Magistrate Court for the alleged offence which attracts several years of imprisonment.
He pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Inspector Solomon, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. I.O. Williams, granted him bail in the sum of N1m with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
