How Hunter, 38, Attempted To Kill  Bosom Friend For Sleeping With Girlfriend

A 38-year old hunter, Joseph Ajegba, has narrated why he attempted to kill his bosom friend by shooting him with a gun after he allegedly caught him sleeping with his girlfriend in Ikun-Akoko, Akoko South West Local Government area of Ondo State.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Ajegba, told the Police that he rented an apartment for the single mother of three children only to come to the house and he saw his friend through the window having sexual relationship with her.

He narrated that he became angry, used his gun to shoot him through the window and injured him seriously but he did not die as a result of the injury he sustained.

His action has landed him in trouble as he has been arrested and was among the criminal elements paraded alongside a notorious car theft syndicate at the Police headquarters in Akure.

The suspect, Ajegba, narrating how he shot his friend, said he had dropped a bush meat for his girlfriend earlier in the day and went out at night for another round of game.

“I was surprised when I got to the house to see another man having a sexual relationship with my girlfriend.”

“I went out hunting after I had taken some bottles of beer but I ran out of cartridges. I wanted to return to my girlfriend’s house to sleep there. When I got there, I saw the door locked. I now went to the window, opened it and saw a co-hunter sleeping with my girlfriend. That was why I shot the gun in my hand.”

Parading the suspects, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Abayomi Oladipo said, “On the 23rd of August, 2024 at about 2300hrs, a case of attempted murder was reported to the Police, the victim went to his friend who is a divorcee in her house. One, Ajegba Joseph ‘m’, a hunter aged 38 years, who is also having an affair with the woman, went to visit her on the same day in possession of an unlicensed single-barrel gun. However, upon sighting the victim with the woman in bed, the suspect shot the victim through the window side.”

The Police boss stated that the suspect,  Ajegba will be charged before the Court for the alleged attempted murder under the Criminal Laws of the State but that will be after the conclusion of investigations by the Police.
