Man, 20, Remanded For Trying To Sexually Penetrate Neighbour’s Girl, 9

A 20-year old man, Samson David, has landed in trouble in Lagos State after he allegedly lured a 9-year old girl and sexually assaulted her by forcefully trying to penetrate her private part.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, David has been arrested and charged for sexual assault.
The incident happened at Igoke Estate, Pipeline junction, Oke-Odo area of Lagos, where they reside.
According to the Police, the suspect lured the victim into an apartment, laid on her body and tried to forcefully penetrated her private part but he was unable to do so because of the size of his dick. The victim was said to have started crying because of the pain, which eventually attracted the attention of their neighbours including her parents.
The matter was reported to the Police in the area and he was arrested. He was then transferred to the Gender Section of the Police Command for investigation over his alleged conduct.
After rounds of interrogation at the Gender Section, the Police found him culpable and consequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence, which attracts several years of imprisonment.
The charge read:
That you, Samson David ‘m’, on the 25th day of July 2024, at about 1400hours at No. 8, Igoke Estate, Pipeline Junction, Oke-odo, Lagos State, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did sexually assault one Joseph Michelle ‘f 9years old by laying on her body and was forcefully trying to penetrate her and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 261 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.
The Court did not take his plea when he was arraigned following a motion moved by the prosecutor, Supol Akeem Raji, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice because of the nature of the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. B.O. Osunsanmi, ordered his remand in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, without an option of bail pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice.
The Court also directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP for advice, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
The matter was adjourned till 3rd October, 2024, for mention for the report of the DPP’s advice to be available.
