19-Year Old Arrested While Removing Redeemed Church’s Aluminium Windows & Doors To Sell As Scraps

A 19-year old, Ganiyu Yusuf, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly breaking into the Redeemed Christian Church of God and removing the aluminum windows and doors, which he intended to sell as scraps to buyers.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 30th August, 2024, at the Redeemed Church’s branch known as Strong Tower Zonal Headquarters located at Olo Street, Pipeline bus stop, Idimu area of Lagos.
According to the Police, the suspect jumped into the church compound and started disconnecting 12 frames of aluminum windows and two doors worth N1.1m from where they were mounted. And having removed the items, he tried to escape before he was apprehended by the security and handed over to the Police at Idimu Division for interrogation.
During the interrogation, he admitted to have done so and told the Police that the frames were made of aluminum and he wanted to sell them to scrap dealers to make some money.
The Police found him culpable and charged him before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for the alleged offence.
He pleaded guilty.
The prosecutor, Supol Benedict Aigbokhan, then asked the Court to give a date for facts and sentence since he pleaded guilty to enable him to present the facts of the matter in order for the Court to sentence him accordingly.
The Presiding Magistrate, K.A. Ariyo, ordered his remand in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when the prosecutor will present the facts and he will be sentenced accordingly.
The matter was then adjourned till 3rd October, 2024, for facts and sentence.
