2 Security Guards Land In Trouble For Failing To Prevent Robbers From Carting Away Items Worth N12m

Two security guards, Quadri Balogun, 31 and Olasunkanmi Showumi, 25, have landed in trouble in Lagos State for allegedly failing to prevent robbers from stealing items worth N12m while they were on duty at the company. 
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Pab Company located at Ikotun-Idimu Road, Ikotun area of Lagos, where the suspects were employed as security guards.
According to the Police, they were employed as security guards and on 8th August, 2024, robbers burgled the company’s store, carted away items worth the said amount and escaped.
Some of the items stolen included male and female including children’s clothes,  plasma TV, gold jewelries and others worth the amount.
However, when the management came to work in the morning and discovered what happened, they summoned the security guards to explain what happened.
During interrogation, they said that despite the fact that they were employed as security guards and went to work on that day, they did not know when and how the robbers burgled the place and carted away the items.
The matter was reported to the Police at Ikotun Division; they were arrested and charged before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for the alleged negligence.
They pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Inspector Simeon Njue, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since they pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that they actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. A.K. Dosumu-Uthman, granted them bail in the sum of N1m with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned till 23rd October, 2024, for mention while the defendants were remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when they will perfect their bail conditions.
