NYG 2024: Sanwo-Olu Hails Team Lagos’ Stunning Display During Opening Ceremony

The Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu could not hide his feeling seeing the display of the Lagos youngsters during the opening ceremony of the 8th National Youth Games currently ongoing in Asaba, Delta State.
Typical of what Lagos is known of, the ‘Eko for Show’ aura filled the atmosphere at Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba Thursday afternoon as Team Lagos during the march past were the cynosure of all eyes.
It is no surprise to see the sports and kids loving governor, Sanwo-Olu taking to his social media handles to appreciate and commended the team for giving other teams of the Games a good run for their money with the bold statement that they are in Asaba 2024 for a serious business.
The Governor wrote: “Team Lagos made a stunning impression at the opening ceremony of the 8th National Youth Games in Asaba, Delta State and I couldn’t be prouder of our under-15 athletes, who captivated everyone with their incredible display that truly represents Lagos’ reputation for finesse, dynamism, and excellence.
“I believe that our team’s excellence will shine through in every sport we participate in at the National Youth Games. I wish all our athletes the best of luck and can’t wait to see the amazing things they accomplish.
“Let’s go Team Lagos!”
The Director General of Lagos State Sports Commission, Hon. Lekan Fatodu also wrote a fascinating piece of his Facebook page to eulogise the Lagos youngsters’ display at the opening ceremony, saying ” As a truly outstanding state in Nigeria, Lagos is keeping up with its tradition of excellence in all aspects, including the march past. Our young athletes have made a strong impression with their beautiful appearance and marching dexterity.
“I can confidently say that this level of excellence will be evident across all sports in which Lagos will be participating in the National Youth Games here in Asaba. Without a doubt, Lagos is the state to watch in this competition.”
“This impressive display aligns with Lagos’ reputation as a state that excels in both sports and representation, setting a high standard for others to follow at the National Youth Games.”
The under-15 athletes from Lagos State captivated spectators with their elegant display, embodying the state’s reputation for finesse, dynamism and excellence. The young athletes, adorned in pristine white tracksuits striped with the state’s colours, commanded attention during the march past. Their appearance and precision in marching reflected the state’s commitment to excellence in all endeavors.
