How Nigerian Footballer Was Swindled Millions By Internet Scammer, 22

A Nigerian Professional Footballer based abroad had a nasty experience after he exchanged his nude photographs with a 22-year old internet fraudster, Nelson Ozor, who posed as a woman on his Instagram page, which he used to blackmail and extort millions of Naira, which he paid in Pound Sterling. 

 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Ozor, was later arrested in Lagos State, Nigeria and he admitted to have obtained the said money from the footballer after Ibiye fell into his trap on his Instagram page.

 

He revealed that he posed as a woman, Jasmire Abriana1, to lure men through chatting and the footballer fell into the trap. It was in the process the footballer sent his nude pictures, which Ozor threatened to upload on the internet.

 

“He was frightened and he started paying in pound sterling. And he has paid over 2000 Pounds before the Police interrupted and arrested me.”

 

Police intelligence operatives from the Commissioner of Police Special Squad 2 of the Lagos State Command arrested Nelson Ozor, at 1B James Street by Zone 2 Gate, Abule Ado area of Lagos, where he lives.

It was when the threat and extortion became unbearable for the footballer that he reported the matter to the Commissioner of Police, who then ordered his officers at the Special Squad to fish out the suspect.

The suspect was tracked, eventually arrested in his house with two other suspects and detained at the Command for interrogation over his alleged conduct.

 

The suspect told the Police that he hails from Emene in Eze Agu Local Government area of Enugu State. He narrated that he attended Primary and Secondary school before he went to learn mechanic for one year in Enugu and became free.

He stated that he left his mechanic job, came to Lagos and joined his brother on Lagos Island selling clothes. And when he did not see much prospect in the business, be joined internet fraud which improved his lifestyle and he was able to rent the apartment where he was arrested.

 

The suspect, Ozor, said that he was still surprised that the Nigerian Police have become sophisticated and that he never imagined that he will be caught and arrested one day.

 

He stated that he has now realized that fraud does not pay because at the end of the day, nemesis will catch up with the person and he will not go back crime if eventually released by the Police.

 

However, according to Police sources, the suspect, Ozor, will be charged before Court for the alleged criminal conduct but that will be after the conclusion of investigation by the Police as already more victims he defrauded had been identified.
