Matawalle Returns To Sokoto Amid Intensified Security Efforts
AHMAD DAN-WUDIL
The Honourable Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Muhammad Matawalle, arrived in Sokoto yesterday, 8th October, 2024, as part of the Federal Government’s intensified efforts to combat insecurity in the North-West region.
The visit also aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s earlier directive for the Minister and senior military officials to move to the Headquarters of the 8 Division in Sokoto to coordinate military operations and implement proactive measures to enhance the effectiveness of military operations across the region.
It was Matawalle’s second visit to Sokoto, following his initial visit on September 3, 2024, which led to significant achievements, including the elimination of several notorious bandit leaders.
Among those neutralized were Halilu Buzu Sububu, Kachalla Baleri Fakai, Modi Modi, Kachalla Mai Shayi, Kachalla Tsoho Lulu, Kachalla Makore, Sani Bulak, Kachalla Tukur Sharme, and Sani Wala-birki, among others.
The successful operations under Matawalle’s supervision have brought renewed hope to the region, and residents remain optimistic about further successes, particularly in the ongoing efforts to eliminate infamous criminals such as Bello Turji.
Matawalle’s return to Sokoto reflects the commitment of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration to restoring peace and stability across the North-West. The deployment of additional military personnel further demonstrates the government’s determination to bring lasting security to the region.
