Woman, 45, Docked For Arranging With 2 Teenagers To  Steal Food Items Inside Shop

A 45-year old woman, Eritosin Idowu, has landed in trouble in Lagos State for allegedly arranging with two teenagers,  Emmanuel Moses, 18 and Osara Moses to burgle a shop and cart away food items. 

 

P.M.EXPRESS reports the trio have been arrested and charged for conspiracy and stealing under the Criminal Laws of the State.

 

The incident happened at Alhaji Malik Street, Ijagemo area of Lagos, at the shop belonging to a woman, Florence Adewunmi.

 

Some of the items they allegedly stole from the shop included, carton of Mimee instant noodles, one carton of Golden Penny noodles, one carton of Golden Penny spaghetti, one pack of Honeywell wheat, one pack of 2.5kg semovita and quarter bag of rice belonging to Adewunmi.

 

However, they ran out of luck while they tried to escape in the early hours of the morning as they were caught by one of the residents who identified the teenagers.

 

The matter was reported to the Police at Isheri Oshun Division. The teenagers were arrested and detained at the station for interrogation over their alleged conduct.

 

During interrogation, they implicated Idowu and she was subsequently arrested and detained as well for interrogation. The trio were found culpable after rounds of interrogation and were consequently charged before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for the alleged offence.

 

The charges read:

That you, Emmanuel Moses, Osara Moses and Eritossin Idowu, F, on the 13/10/2024 at about 01:00hrs at Alhaj Malik Street ljagemo ljegun, in the Lagos magisterial district, did conspire together to commit felony to wit stealing and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 411 criminal law of Lagos Nigeria 2015.”

 

COUNT 2: That you, Emmanuel Moses and Osara Moses and on the same date, place and time in the aforementioned magisterial district, did break and enter a provisions shop belonging to one Florence Adewunmi  ‘F’, and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 309 (1) criminal law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”

 

COUNT 3:That you, Emmanuel Moses and Osara Moses on the same date, place and time in the aforementioned magisterial district, did conduct yourself in a way and manner likely to cause a breach of the peace by stealing one carton of mimee instant noodles, one carton of golden penny noodles, one carton of golden penny spaghetti, one pack of Honeywell wheat, one pack of 2.5kg semovita and quarter bag of rice belonging to one Florence Adewunmi  and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 168 (d) criminal law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”

 

COUNT 4; That you, Emmanuel Moses and Osara Moses, on the same date, place and time in the aforementioned magisterial district, did steal one carton of Mimee instant noodles, one carton of golden penny noodles, one carton of golden penny spaghetti, one pack of Honeywell wheat, one pack of 2.5kg semovita and quarter bag of rice total property valued at N100, 000.00 belonging to one Florence Adewunmi and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 287 criminal law of Lagos Nigeria 2015.”

 

Two defendants, Emmanuel and Osara, pleaded guilty while the third defendant, Idowu pleaded not guilty.

 

The prosecutor, Inspector Simeon Njue asked the Court to give a date for hearing since Idowu pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that she actually committed the alleged offence and to present the facts of the matter before the Court on the two other defendants who pleaded guilty so that they will be sentenced accordingly.

 

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. A.K. Dosumu-Uthman, granted the third defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court and then adjourned for facts and sentence for the other defendants.
