Man, 23, Arrested For Burglary After Being Caught With 10 Bags Of Stolen Rice Inside Tricycle

Police operatives from Isheri Oshun Division of the Lagos State Command have arrested a 23-year old man, Taofeek Oladimeji, for burglary after he was caught with suspected stolen 10 bags of rice inside a tricycle. 
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Fagbile Estate, Ijegun area of Lagos.
This was disclosed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, who confirmed that the suspect is in Police custody undergoing interrogation over his alleged conduct.
He stated that on 19th October, 2024, a distress call was made to the DPO, SP Uzoma Martin’s, by one of the CDA leaders of the Isheri community that a suspected Tricycle a.k.a Keke, was seen carrying bags of foreign rice from Fagbile area inward Ayanwale CDA.
He explained that the DPO mobilized anti-crime and patrol team of the Division to the scene and the tricycle was sighted. On sighting the Police, the rider and one other suspect, abandoned the tricycle and fled.
However, upon further searching of the neighbourhood, one Taofeek Oladimeji was arrested and taken to the station. He was identified by the CDA leader, who contacted the Police, as one of the occupants of the tricycle.
Ten bags of rice and the tricycle were recovered exhibits and taken to the  station for safe keeping. The suspect confessed to the crime after his statement was obtained under caution.
Efforts are ongoing to arrest the fleeing rider. Investigation is still ongoing and the suspect will be charged before the Court for the alleged offence under the Criminal Laws of the State but that will be after the conclusion of investigations by the Police.
