Man, 44, Remanded In Custody For Beating Up Cleaner Inside School

A 44-year old man, Ayofe Kolawole, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly beating up a school cleaner, Paul Agnes and inflicting injury on her inside the school premises.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Rosebud Primary School, Ogunronbi Estate, Idimu area of Lagos.
He has been charged before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for conduct likely to cause breach of public peace and assault under the Criminal Laws of the State.
According to the Police, the suspect went to the school and assaulted the victim by giving her fist blows severally on her body and injured her in the process.
The matter was reported to the Police at Idimu Division; the Police arrested the suspect and detained him at the station for interrogation.
After interrogation, the Police found him culpable and consequently charged him before the Court for the alleged offence.
The charges read: “That you, Ayofe Kolawole ‘M’ on the 10th day of October 2024, about 1600hrs at Rosebud Primary School, Ogunronbi Estate, Idimu, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did conduct yourself in manner likely to cause the breach of peace by beating up a Rosebud School cleaner one Pail Agnes “F” in front of pupils also threatening to beat up the School owner and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 168 (d) of the criminal law of Lagos State 2015.”
COUNT II: That you, Ayofe Kolawole ‘M’ on the same date, time and place in the aforementioned Magisterial District, did unlawfully assault a Rosebud School cleaner one Paul Agnes, by hitting her with fist blows severally all over her body and caused her bodily harm and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 173 of the criminal law of Lagos State 2015.”
He pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Supol Benedict Aigbokhan, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, K.A. Ariyo, granted him bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned till 22nd November, 2024, for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
