Man, 29, Docked For Allegedly Stealing Boss’ N20m Paid Into His Account

A 29-year old man, Sadiq Adigun Wahab, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly stealing the total sum of N20m belonging to his boss, Alhaji Ismail Yusuf Abiodun, by converting the said money to his own use. 
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Oshodi area of Lagos while the suspect was employed under the complainant, Alhaji Abiodun.
According to the Police, the suspect first converted the sum of N6m, which was paid into his UBA account before it was later discovered he also stole over N14m. The matter was reported to the Police, who moved into action, eventually arrested the suspect and detained him for interrogation over his alleged conduct.
After thorough interrogation, the Police found him culpable and charged him before the Yaba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence, which attracts several years of imprisonment.
The charges read:
“That you, Sadiq Adigun Wahab, “M”on the 28th day of June, 2024 in the Oshodi area of Lagos within the Yaba Magisterial District in the Lagos State Magistrate District, while in the employment of your master, Alhaji Ismail Yusuf Abiodun, did steal/convert the sum of N6,000,000:00 (Six Million Naira) only, property of your master, which was paid into your United Bank for Africa Account Number: 2095572763 and thereby committed offence contrary to Section 280 of the Crminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 and punishable under Section 287 of the aforementioned Law.”
COUNT II:”That you, Sadiq Adigun Wahab, “M”between the month of January, 2021 and the month of July, 2024 in the Oshodi area of Lagos within the Yaba Magisterial District in the Lagos State Magisterial District, while in the employment of your master, Alhaji Ismail Yusuf Abiodun, did steal/convert the sum of N14,150,000:00 (Fourteen Million, One Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira) only, proceeds of sales from your master’s business and thereby committed offence contrary to Section 280 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 and punishable under Section 287 of the aforementioned Law.”
However, he pleaded not guilty when he was arraigned.
The prosecutor, Supol Thomas Nurudeen, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate,  Mr. P.E. Nwaka, granted him bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
