A 16-year old boy has landed in trouble in Lagos State for allegedly luring and engaging a 13-year old girl in sex inside the church.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at New Apostolic Church, located at Ariwola Avenue, Opebi area of Ikeja.
According to the Police,  the boy lured the victim into the church and forcefully had sex with her. But while he was still in the act, he was caught.
The matter was reported to the Police in the area and the suspect was arrested. He was later transferred to the Gender Section of the State Police Command for interrogation over his alleged conduct.
After interrogation, the Police found him culpable and charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence which attracts several years of imprisonment or life imprisonment.
However,  the Court did not take his plea when he was arraigned following a motion moved by the prosecutor, Inspector John Iberedem, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. E.Kubenije, ordered his remand in custody at the juvenile home and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP for advice.
The matter was adjourned till 11th December, 2024, for the report of the DPP’s advice to to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
The names of the defendant and victim were withheld because they are still minors in line with the policy of P.M.EXPRESS.
