Man, 26, Docked For Using Cigarette Lighter To Burn 5-Year Old Step Son’s Penis

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Famoriki Street, Isheri Osun area of Lagos, where the reside.

According to the Police, the victim was alleged to have committed an undisclosed offence and he beat him with electric wire and inflicted injury on his body. The suspect still went ahead and brought out a cigarette lighter, which he used to burn his penis and injured him in the process.

The victim was taken to an undisclosed hospital for treatment and the matter was reported to the Police at Isheri Oshun Division. The Police operatives then arrested and transferred him to the Gender Section of the State Command for interrogation over his alleged conduct.

After interrogation, the Police found him culpable and consequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence, which attracts several years of imprisonment.

The charges read:

“That you, Lateef Kolawole ‘m’, sometimes in October 2024, at Famoriki Street, Isheri Osun, Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did assault your step son, one Tobi Moshood ‘m’ 5 years old. by beating him with electric wire and inflicting marks on his body and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 172 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”

COUNT II: “That you, Lateef Kolawole ‘m’, on the 14th of November 2024, at the aforementioned place, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did indecently treat your step son, Tobi Moshood ‘m’ 5years by using cigarette lighter to burn the tip of his penis and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 135 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”

He pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Inspector John Iberedem, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. E. Kubenije, granted him bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.

The matter was adjourned till 17th December, 2024, for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
