Man, 32, Docked For Buying & Selling Stolen Diesel Products Worth N5.4m

A 32-year old man, Temitope Oluwaseun, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly buying and selling stolen 5,000 liters of diesel worth N5.4m.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect,  Oluwasegun and others now at large on 9th January, 2025 at Obasa Estate off Oba Akran Avenue, Ikeja, conspired and bought the stolen product, sold it and converted the money.
However, they ran out of luck as information leaked and the missing product was traced to the suspect. The matter was reported to the Police at Area F Command, Ikeja.
The Police moved into action and arrested the suspect and detained him at the Command for interrogation.
During interrogation, the suspect claimed that he was into oil and gas and duly registered his business to enable him operate, which turned out to be false during the investigation.
The Police found him culpable and charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged conspiracy, false information and stealing.
COUNT 1: “That you, Temitope Oluwasegun and others now at large sometimes on the 9th of January, 2025 at No 21, Obasa Estate off Oba Akran Ikeja Lagos in the Lagos Magisterial District, did conspire among yourselves to commit felony to wit stealing and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 411 and punishable under Section 412 of the criminal laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”
COUNT 2: “That you,Temitope Oluwasegun on the same date, time and place in the aforementioned Magisterial District, dishonestly received Five Thousand Liters of Diesel AGO Petroleum Products from one Mr. Gabu ‘M’ Value NS,475,000 Five Million Four Hundred and Seventy Five Thousand naira only property of one Sunday Idowu ‘M’ and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 328 (1) of the criminal laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”
COUNT 3:-“That you, Temitope Oluwasegun on the 10th January, 2025 at No 21 Obasa Estate, Ikeja in the Lagos magisterial district, did dishonestly sell Five Thousand Litres of diesel AGO Petroleum products value the sum of N5,475,000 and converted the money for your own use. property of one Sunday Idowu ‘M’ and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 280 and punishable under Section 287 of the criminal laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”
COUNT 4:”That you, Temitope Oluwasegun on the 14th January 2025 at the Nigeria Police Force, Area ‘F’ Command headquarters Ikeja in the aforementioned magisterial district, did make a statement at the above office that your are into oil and gas and dully registered your business to enable you operate knowingly well that it was false and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 115 of the criminal laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”
However, he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Inspector John Iberedem, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. L.A. Owolabi, granted him bail in the sum of N1m with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned till 3rd February, 2025, for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
