Woman, 30, Docked For Using Plank To Hit Rival While Dancing

A 30-year old woman, Funke Adigun, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly using a plank to hit her rival neighbour, Ibrahim Ramota, while dancing in the compound to taunt her. 

 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Community Road in Ijegun area of Lagos, where they reside.

 

According to the Police, the victim,  Ramota, was dancing in the compound and her rival was angry as she suspected that Ramota was dancing to taunt her.

 

The suspect reportedly carried a plank and hit the victim, which caused her serious injury and she was rushed to an undisclosed hospital for treatment while the matter was reported to the Police at Isheri Oshun Division.

 

The suspect was then arrested and detained at the station for interrogation over her alleged conduct. She was found culpable after interrogation and charged before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for the alleged offence.

 

The charges read:

“That you, Funke Adigun ‘F’ about 1810hrs at Community Road, Ijegun on 27th January, 2025, did conduct yourself in a likely manner to cause breach of public by attacking one Ibrahim Ramota while dancing thereby committing offence contrary and punishable under Section 168(d) of the Criminal law of Lagos State Nigeria.”

 

COUNT II:”That you, Funke Adigun ‘F’ on the same date, place and time in the aforementioned magisterial district, did unlawfully assault one Ibrahim Ramota ‘f with plank, and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 172 law of Lagos State Nigeria.”

 

COUNT III:”That you, Funke Adigun ‘F’ on the same date, place and time in the aforementioned magisterial district, did unlawfully assault one Ibrahim Ramota ‘f with a plank which caused her bodily harm, and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 173 law of Lagos State Nigeria 2015,”

 

However, she pleaded not guilty.

 

The prosecutor, Inspector Simeon Njue, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since she pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that she actually committed the alleged offence.

 

The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. T.A. Popoola, granted her bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.

 

The matter was adjourned till 24th February, 2025, for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when she will perfect her bail conditions.
