Man, 80, Remanded For Stealing Company’s N5m Property

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Prophet TB Joshua Street, Egbe, Ikotun, Lagos, where they reside and company is located.

According to the Police, the suspects and others now at large on 25th January, 2025, allegedly conspired and stole the item and escape. And when the company discovered that the item was missing, it was reported to the Police at Ikotun Division.

The Police moved into action, arrested the suspects and detained them at the station for interrogation over the missing items.

After being interrogated, the Police found them culpable and charged them before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for the alleged offence, which attracts several years of imprisonment.

The charges read:

COUNT 1: “That you, Quadri Afolabi “m”, Afolabi Uzamat “m” and others now at large, on 25th January, 2025, at about 07:30hrs AIL Industrials Limited at  Prophet T.B Joshua Street, Egbe, Ikotun, Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did conspire together to commit felony to wit stealing and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 411 of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015.”

COUNT II:”That you, Quadri Afolabi “m” and others still at large on the same date, time and place, in the aforesaid Magisterial District, did steal Aluminum Mould, valued Five Million Naira (N5,000,000.00) property of AIL Industrials Limited and thereby committed an offence Contrary to Section 280 and Punishable under Section 287, of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015.”

They pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Supol Benedict Aigbokhan, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since they pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that they actually committed the alleged offence.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. A.K. Dosumu-Uthman, granted the first defendant, Pa Uzamat bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety while the second defendant, Afolabi, was granted bail in the sum of N1m with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.

The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendants were remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when they will perfect their bail conditions.
