FG Unveils Integrated Resource Plan For Power Sector
The Federal government has concluded plans to unveil the Integrated Resource Plan (IRP) for the power sector.
The unveiling will take place with the support of the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and the UK Nigeria Infrastructure Advisory Facility (UKNIAF) on Thursday in Abuja.
The event, which will highlight critical milestones in Nigeria’s electricity reform and transformation journey will also see to the presentation of a comprehensive policy designed to guide Nigeria’s power sector towards universal electrification, inclusivity, and sustainability.
A statement by Bolaji Tunji, Special Adviser to the Minister of Power on Strategic Communications and Media Relations said the IRP is a strategic roadmap to ensure least-cost electrification, alignment with Nigeria’s energy transition goals, and phase out self-generation practices.
The unveiling will also witness a stakeholder engagement session with the private sector with a view towards exploring investment opportunities and fostering collaborations for private sector participation in the National Integrated Electricity Policy/Strategic Implementation Plan (NIEP-SIP) and IRP implementation process.
The Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu will deliver the key note address on Strategic Vision for Nigeria’s Energy Future at the event.
Also expected at the event are members of the inter-ministerial working group.
