Man, 37, Arraigned For Battering Wife Over Money For Family Feeding

A 30-year old housewife, Mrs. Faith Chiamaka, had a nasty experience in Lagos State after she asked for money for the feeding of the family from her husband, Seth Okechukwu and she received a surprised package from him.

 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the package  Mrs. Okechukwu received were in the form of abuses and serious beatings as she sustained an injury with blood on her face.

 

The incident happened at Old Road, Mafoluku, Oshodi area of Lagos, where they reside.

 

The matter was reported to the Police at Ilupeju Division. The Police arrested and detained the man at the station for interrogation over his alleged conduct against the victim and why he refused to take care of his family.

 

After interrogation, the Police found him culpable and charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence under the Criminal Laws of the State.

 

The charges read :

“That you, Seth Okechukwu ‘M’ in February, 2025 at No. 30, Old Road, Mafoluku Oshodi, Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, have been physically and verbally abusive towards your wife one Faith Chiamaka ‘f’ age 30yrs and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 315 of criminal laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”

 

COUNT II :”That you, Seth Okechukwu on the same date at about 2300hrs at the above address assaulted Faith Chiamaka ‘f’ age 30yrs severally in the room and she sustained injury with blood on her face thereby committed an offence contrary and punishable under Section 275 of criminal laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”

 

COUNT III: “That you, Seth Okechukwu  sometimes will not provide food for your family and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 275 of criminal laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”

However, he pleaded not guilty.

 

The prosecutor, Supol Akeem Raji, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.

 

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. Kusanu, granted him bail with a surety, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.

 

The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
