2 Men Arraigned For Burgling Warehouse & Carting Away Items Worth N5m

Two men, Miracle Akpan Osong, 23 and Emmanuel Joseph, 20, have been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly burgling a warehouse belonging to Bashami Venture and carting away items worth N5m before they escaped. 

 

P.M.EXPRESS reports the incident happened on 22nd February, 2025, at Ekoro area of Abule-Egba where the warehouse is located.

 

According to the Police, the suspects went to the warehouse at about 2am, broke into it and stole the items worth the amount in question.

 

However, the matter was reported to the Police at Oke Odo Division. The operatives moved into action, eventually arrested and detained the suspects for interrogation over their alleged conduct.

 

After thorough interrogation,  the Police found them culpable and consequently charged them before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence which attracts several years of imprisonment.

 

The charges read:

“That you, Miracle Akpan Osong (m) and Emmanuel Joseph (m), on the 22nd of February, about 0200 hours at Bashami Venture, Ekoro, Abule-Egba, Alimosho in the Lagos Magisterial District, did conspire between yourselves to steal and thereby committed an contrary to Section 411 and punishable under Section 412 of the criminal Laws of State 2015.”

 

Count 2:”That you Miracle Akpan Osung (m) and Emmanuel Joseph (m) on the same date, time and the aforesaid Magisterial District, did burgle Bashami Venture Warehouse,  of one Ibiyemi Sodiq (m) and steal goods worth Five Million Naira Only (N5,000, 000) thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 307 (a) (b) (c) and punishable under Section 309 (c) (2) criminal Laws of Lagos State 2015.”

 

Count 3:”That you, Miracle Akpan Osung (m) and Emmanuel Joseph (m) on the same date, time and the aforesaid Magisterial District, did steal: some Foreign Jeans, 2 Pairs of Canvass, ef, Deep Fryers, Blenders, Water Heater, different types of clothes, Cream, Jegan icaroni, Perfumes, Tools, Towels, Woman bags, Duvet and Laptops, total Valued: Five Million Naira Only (N5, 000, 000), Properties of one Ibiyemi Sodiq and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 280(a) (b) & 2 (a) (b) and punishable under Section 87 (5a) (5f) of the criminal Laws of Lagos State 2015.”

 

However, they pleaded not guilty.

 

The prosecutor, Supol Akeem Raji, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since they pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that they actually committed the alleged offence.

 

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs O. Kusanu, granted them bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.

 

The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendants were remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when they will perfect their bail conditions.
