Man, 38, Docked For Arranging Thugs To Attack 2 Police Officers During Operation

A senior female Police officer, ASP Abigail Igbodo and Spy Sgt. Nwanmeme Emeka, had a nasty experience recently while performing their lawful duty on the highway in Lagos State. 
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the duo was brutally attacked and dislodged by some hoodlums, who inflicted injury on them before they managed to escape.
The incident happened on 15th day of May, 2024 at about 1315hrs at Abule Ado area, where the victims went to perform their duties.
One of the suspects, a 38-year old man, Olapade Sulaiman, who allegedly arranged the hoodlums to assault the victims has been arrested and charged for conspiracy and assault under the Criminal Laws of the State.
According to the Police, the suspect arranged thugs and went where the victims were performing their duties. They attacked, removed their handcuffs and used same to inflict injury on them and also had the uniform of Spy Sgt. Emeka torn.
The matter was reported to the Police at Ojo Division. The Police then mobilized other officers and went to the scene. They arrested the suspect and detained him at the station while other accomplices escaped and are now at large.
The suspect was charged before the Ojo Magistrate Court for conspiracy and assault
The charges read:
COUNT I: “That you, Olapade Suleiman ‘M’ on the 15th day of May, 2024 at about 1315hrs at Abule Ado Area, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did unlawfully conduct yourself in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by causing disorderliness by calling holigans to fight two Police Officers and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 168(d) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”
COUNT II:”That you, Olapade Suleiman ‘M’ on the same date, Time and place, in the aforementioned Magisterial District, did seriously assault ASP Abigail Igbodo ‘F’ and Spy Sgt. Nwanmeme Emeka ‘M’ by collecting their handcuffs and using same to inflict injury on them and also tearing the uniform of Spy Sgt. Nwanmeme Emeka ‘M’, while performing their lawfully duties as Police Officers and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 174 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”
However, he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Inspector Esther Adesulu, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O.M. Ogun, granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned till 2nd June, 2025, for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
