Man, 34, Docked For Allegedly Stealing Neighbour’s N30,000 Cooking Pot

A 34-year old man, Olaitan Ilesanmi, has landed in trouble in Lagos State for allegedly sneaking into his neighbour’s apartment and stealing his cooking pot worth N30,000.
P.M.EXPRESS reports the suspect, Ilesanmi, has been arrested and charged for stealing under the Criminal law of Lagos State.
The incident happened on 12th day of April, 2025 at about 11:10a.m at Sabaina Ola Street off Toyin, lju, Lagos, where they reside.
The matter was reported to the Police at Iju Division. The suspect was then arrested and detained at the station for interrogation over his alleged conduct.
The complainant also claimed that he lost his car catalyst worth N250,000 where he kept the pot as well.
The Police found the suspect culpable after interrogation and charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged stealing which attracts several years of imprisonment.
The charge read:
“That you, Olaitan Ilesanmi ‘M’ on the 12th day of April, 2025 at about 11:10a.m at No. 3B, Sabaina Ola Street off Toyin, lju, Lagos, in the Ikeja Magisterial District, did steal a cooking pot valued N30,000.00 and a car catalyst valued N250,000.00k properties of one Lukman Usman and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 280 and punishable under Section 37 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”
However, he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Supol Akeem Raji, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. Kusanu, granted him bail with a surety, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while address will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
