Concerned residents of Obalende and motorists passing through the area to their various places of work have appealed passionately to Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu to as a matter of urgency build a mega public toilet at Obalende to stop the worrisome open defecation on the bridges and sideways.

Some of those who spoke with our Correspondent in the area at the weekend stated that the open defecation on the bridges and other places is still going on due to lack of public toilets in the area since the demolition of the available ones in the area about seven years ago.

They appealed to  Governor Sanwo-Olu to urgently build mega public toilets at the Obalende Motor Parks and open spaces  in the area to stop the open defecation in the area, saying more than 10,000 Lagosians transit through Obalende to their respective places of work daily so as to continue to sustain the mega city status Lagos is known for.

They said the open defecation in the area is not only an eyesore but could trigger epidemic which the Government would be battling with scarce resources.

They however praised the Governor for his unprecedented achievements in all areas since assuming office, pleading that he should complete his unparalleled achievements by building mega public toilets at P&T roundabout and Obalende to stop open defecation by road users who are pressed but have no toilets to use.

According to Mr. Ajayi Olugbenga, who works at Ikoyi, Lagos, “I’m appealing to the listening Governor Sanwo-Olu to, as a matter of urgency, build public toilets at P&T Roundabout by Force Headquarters Annex and Obalende Motor Parks to stop the open defecation going on there. Obalende Bus Stop is one of the busiest in Lagos with over 10,000 Lagosians transiting the area to their places of work and back daily and as such I’m passionately calling on Mr. Governor to provide public toilets in the  area to alleviate the pains motorists are passing through there when they are pressed and more importantly to continue to keep Lagos environment clean.”
