A 32-year old man, Johnson Oluwadamilare, has landed in trouble for allegedly stealing frozen chicken worth about N8,000 at Justrite International trading company in Lagos State.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Oluwadamilare, has been arrested and charged for stealing over his alleged conduct.

The incident happened on 17th May, 2025 at Justrite branch located at Ekoro Road, Meiran area of Lagos.

According to the Police, the suspect went to the place, stole the item and was escaping before the security men accosted him. He was then handed over to the Police at Meiran Division for interrogation over his alleged conduct.

While being interrogated, the suspect offered to pay for the frozen chicken since he was caught in the act. But the Justrite management insisted that he should be prosecuted for the alleged offence in the interest of justice to serve as a deterrent to others who might want to commit similar crime at the company.

The Police consequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence.

The charge read:

“That you, Johnson Oluwadamilare, on the 17th day of May, 2025, at about 2125hrs at Ekoro Road, Meiran, Lagos in the Ikeja magisterial district, did steal one frozen full chicken valued at 7,950 (SEVEN THOUSAND AND NINE HUNDRED AND FIFTY NAIRA) property of JUSTRITE INTERNATIONAL TRADING COMPANY, EKORO BRANCH and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 287 of the Criminal Law vol.44 Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”

He pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Supol Akeem Raji, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. Kusanu, granted him bail with surety, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.

The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
