Lady, 24, Sentenced For Slapping 2 Police Women For Attempting To Arrest Her

A 24-year old lady, Yusra Ahmed, has been sentenced to two weeks community service in Lagos State without any option of fine for slapping two female Police Inspectors for attempting to arrest her over assault against a complainant, Kareem Samiat. 

 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the two female Inspectors, Chegwe Caroline and Uchegbu Happiness attached to Isheri Oshun Division had a nasty experience while effecting the arrest. The suspect, Yusra Ahmed, resisted and in the process slapped both of them in front of the Police station.

 

According to the Police, the complainant,  Kareem Samiat “F” reported a case of alleged assault on 11th June, 2025 and the officers went to arrest her. When they got in front of the Police station, she attempted to escape by slapping the officers.

 

However, it was too late for her as she was arrested and detained at the station. She was consequently charged before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for the alleged conduct likely to cause breach of public peace and assault.

 

The charges read :

COUNT 1: “That you, YUSRA AHMED “F” on the 11/06/2025 at about 13:10hrs in front of Isheri Oshun Police Station, Lagos, of the Lagos State Magisterial District did conduct yourself in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace by harassing one AP/NO. 222331 W/INSPR CHEGWE CAROLINE and AP/NO.221560 W/INSPR UCHEGBU HAPPINESS both attached to Isheri Oshun Police Division, while on legal duty to effect your arrest over the case of assault/conduct likely to cause breach of the peace reported against you by one Kareem Samiat “F” and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 168 (d) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria.”

 

COUNT II: “That you, YUSRA AHMED “F” on the same date, time and place in the aforementioned magisterial district, did unlawfully assault AP/NO. 222331 W/INSPR CHEGWE CAROLINE and AP/NO.221560 W/INSPR UCHEGBU HAPPINESS both attached to Isheri Oshun Police Division, by slapping them while on their duty to arrest you based on the case of assault/conduct likely to cause breach of the peace reported against you by one Kareem Samiat “F” in an attempt to resist arrest and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 172 of the criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”

 

However, she pleaded guilty.

 

The prosecutor, Inspector Simeon Njue, then presented the facts of the matter and asked the Court to sentence her accordingly to serve as deterrent to others who might want to commit similar crime in future.

 

The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. T.A. Popoola, found her guilty as charged and sentenced her accordingly.
