Woman Cries Out To IGP For Help Over Anambra Police Intimidation To Take Her Car

A single mother, Mrs. Grace Osika, has cried out to the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, for help over plans by the Anambra State Police Command to intimidate, collect her Toyota RAV-4 and give to another person.
Narrating her predicament, Mrs. Osika stated that she bought the Nigerian USED Toyota RAV-4 in 2023 from one Sammy in Lagos and he gave her all the documents of the previous owners that had used the car including the Custom papers and she confirmed that the documents were genuine.
She said, “However, sometime in April 2025, I decided to sell the car to one Alhaji. After a week of selling the car, Alhaji called me that he wanted to sell the car and somebody came and alleged that the car was a stolen car and originally belonged to him. They took the case to Ikotun Police Station and I realized at the station that they were trying to play games, because the person that alleged that the car was stolen had no documents to back up his claims, only said they recognised the car through a stain in the boot of the car”.
“Consequently, I wrote a petition to Zone 2 Command in Onikan, Lagos and the matter was transferred and the parties involved were invited to provide proof of evidence.”
“I brought all my documents on the car from the previous owners. The previous owners were even called on phone because their numbers were on the documents and they all confirmed they used the car at one time and sold it as well until it got to me.”
“The man alleging that it was his stolen car, said that he registered the car in 2023 when it was shipped here from abroad. But according to the documents available to me, the car was registered in 2015. The Customs papers indicated that the car was in fabrics but the man alleging theft said that his Toyota RAV-4 was in leather. He brought a VIN-number and I know 2 VIN-numbers can never match on the same car and it turn out to be 2 different VIN-numbers.”
“Now, this man has been oppressing me, he has also gone to the top and beyond, they want to take the car away from me and from the person that I sold the car to, claiming it was his car. Yes, the case is with the Police but they are changing the narrative.”
”The man is alleging that they came to his house to rob him of the car but there is nothing he has shown to back his claim. His claim is that the car stolen from him is the same colour with my own car. But there is no evidence because even the car has a different V-number from his ”
“Yet, they want to move the case to Anambra State because he has paid some Police men there so as to change the narrative. This is oppression and daylight robbery. This car has a history and it came in 2015 and not 2023. This car has been passed down to owners from 2015 till now. These people are seeing the evidences yet they want to take the car away from me.”
“When the man came to Zone 2 Command, the Police asked him where he reported the missing vehicle to as at that time he claimed it was stolen, but the man could not account for anywhere he reported. They asked him for his IPO, he said he doesn’t know. All he did was boast that he is the one feeding the Anambra Police men and that he will take the law into his hands. He said he is taking the case to Anambra and when he gets there, the Anambra Police men will take the car from me that they are all in his pocket. And right now, he is doing exactly that because I gott a call from Anambra that they want to take the case back to Anambra.”
”There is nothing to back his claim. He just printed a V-number online. They even asked for the affidavit to show that his car was stolen, and there was nothing like that. It was when they asked him at the Police Command, that he started going about to forge documents. So this is why I’m crying out for help.”
”I gathered all my money and used it to buy a car. And when I could no longer maintain it because of the cost of fuel, I sold it so as to buy a smaller one. Only for someone from nowhere, claiming it’s his stolen car without documentation to back his accusations. And he keeps boasting that he will involve the Anambra Police and forcefully claim the car because he is feeding them and this is actually happening before my eyes. ”
”The Police called the second buyer, who bought it in 2018 and he confirmed that he bought the car from the original owner and sold it in 2023 after using it for 4 years. This was when I bought it so the car is legit with documentations. Nigerians should come to my aid because I have no backing and I am a single mother managing my life. If this car is taken from me, I have nowhere to turn to and will also be in debt paying the person I sold the car to. I want the Anambra Police Command to hear my cry and see the apparent mistake they are making. The first person that bought the car got it in Ekiti, the second person also bought it in Ekiti, I am the only one who got and registered it in Lagos. There is nowhere the car is registered in Anambra. I am calling on the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, to come to my aid and assist me on this injustice being assisted by officers under his watch” she lamented.
