“I Am Hungry” – Amaechi Was Right After All

It appears that when former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, famously declared, “I am hungry,” he was being more honest than we realized.

According to serious allegations made by former Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, during the Buhari administration, Amaechi’s wife was reportedly receiving a staggering ₦4 billion every month from the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) under the pretext of “training Niger Delta women”.

Let that sink in — ₦4 billion monthly, channeled supposedly for women empowerment. Now that this so-called “feeding bottle” has dried up, can anyone be surprised that Oga is now “hungry”?

Dear Nigerians, we must face the uncomfortable truth: many of the individuals parading themselves as leaders have no genuine interest in public service. Their appetite is not for nation-building but for unchecked access to public funds. Their hunger is not for the people’s welfare but for personal wealth and perpetual power.

There is nothing noble about these men and their relentless pursuit of control. Beneath the well-tailored suits and carefully crafted public speeches lies a heartless scramble for resources that should uplift the masses but instead end up in private pockets.

Until we, the people, begin to hold them truly accountable, the cycle will continue. Nigeria deserves better.
