A 33-year old man, Philip Godwin, has landed in trouble in Lagos State after he  allegedly sneaked into the bedroom of a married woman and stripped himself naked with full erection in order to seduce her into sex.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the married woman resisted the temptation and contacted the Police. He was subsequently arrested and detained for his alleged conduct.
The incident happened on 25th May, 2025, at Opebi area of Lagos, inside the complainant’s bedroom.
How the suspect managed to gain access into her bedroom was not disclosed by the Police, but they charged the suspect for attempted rape under the Criminal Laws of the State.
According to the Police, the suspect went into the complainant’s bedroom when her husband was not around, stripped himself naked and started begging for sex with full erection.
However, the complainant refused his request and contacted the Police at Alausa Division. She indicated that the suspect sneaked into her bedroom and attempted to rape her in the process.
Thus, the Police arrested the suspect and detained him at the station for interrogation over his alleged conduct. While being interrogated, the suspect told the Police that he only tried to seduce her for sex by stripping himself naked but it did not work out as he had planned.
However,  the Police found him culpable and charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged attempted rape which attracts several years of imprisonment.
The charge read:
“That you, PHILIP GODWIN ‘M on the 25th day of May, 2025 at about 1200hrs at Opebi Ikeja, Lagos, in the Ikeja Magisterial District, did attempt to rape a woman by stripping yourself naked in your full erection in her bedroom and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 262 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State Nigeria 2015.”
The Court did not take his plea after the prosecutor, Inspector Lucky Ihiehie, asked the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice because of the nature of the alleged offence.
Thus,  the Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. M.O. Tanimola, ordered his remand in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP for legal advice.
The matter was adjourned for mention for the report of the DPP’s advice to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
