Woman, 42, Arraigned For Battering DPO Inside Station

The Divisional Police Officer in charge of Ipaja Division of the Lagos State Command, CSP Hauwa Idris-Adamu, had a nasty experience while attempting to caution a 42-year old woman, Victoria Hammed, who was brought to the station over her conduct.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the woman, Victoria Hammed, attacked and inflicted injury on the DPO in the process and she was taken to an undisclosed hospital for treatment.
The incident happened on 12th July, 2025, at the Ipaja Division.
Apart from battering CSP Hauwa Idris-Adamu with fist blows on her chest, other Police officers who tried to protect the DPO suffered similar attacks and were injured in the process.
Some of the officers injured by the woman included ASP Mojisola Animashaun, Inspector Lawretta Osemeke, and Inspector Obozuwa Maureen.
However, the Police eventually subdued and arrested the woman over her alleged conduct, which attracts several years of imprisonment. And having been found culpable, she was consequently charged before the Magistrate Court.
The charges read:
“That you, Victoris Hammed on the 12th day of July 2025, at about 1900hrs at Ipaja Police Station, Ipaja Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did conduct yourself in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by assaulting Police officers while performing their lawful duty and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 168(d) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015”.
COUNT II: “That you, Victoria Hammed F, on the same date, time and place, in the aforementioned magisterial district, did unlawfully assault one ASP Mojisola Animashaun by pushing her while performing her lawful duty and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 174 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”
COUNT III:”That you, Victoria Hammed, F’ on the same date, time and place, in the aforesaid magisterial district, did unlawfully assault one Inspector Lawretta Osemeke by hitting her while performing her lawful duty and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 174 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”
COUNT IV:”That you, Victoria Hammed, F’ on the same date, time and place, in the aforementioned magisterial district, did unlawfully assault one Inspector Obozuwa Maureen by pushing her, while she was cautioning you not to fight or obstruct the officers from performing their duty and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 174 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015″.
COUNT V: “That you, Victoria Hammed, ‘F’ on the same date, time and place, in the aforementioned magisterial district, did unlawfully assault one CSP Hauwa Idris-Adamu, the ‘DPO Ipaja Divisional Headquarter’s by giving her fist-blow on her chest while she was cautioning you not to fight the officers on duty and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 174 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”
COUNT VI:”That you, Victoria Hammed, ‘F’ on the same date, time and place, in the aforementioned Magisterial district, did unlawfully cause damage to a Rolex-wrist watch worth of N30,000:00 (Thirty Thousand Naira) belonging to one Inspector Lawretta Osemeke and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 350 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”
However, she pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Supol Benedict Aigbokhan, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since she pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that she actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. A.K. Dosumu-Uthman, granted her bail in the sum of N500,000 with with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned till 13th August, 2025, for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when she will perfect her bail conditions.
