I’m So Proud Being Part of Sony Music Family -YCee

Fresh Sony Music signee, YCee has said that he is so proud being consider as a member of the international music label family.

Expressing his excitement about the deal, Ycee posted on his Instagram feed, “Great things happening, alongside Tinny Entertainment, I’m so proud to become part of the Sony Music family!!.”

As part of Sony Music Entertainment’s expansion across Africa, the label, on Friday 21 October, announced an exclusive deal with 23-year old Ycee of Tinny Entertainment in South Africa.

The unprecedented deal will see the rapper’s first E.P,’ The First Wave’ released under the Sony umbrella. With this move, YCee joins fellow Nigerian stars Davido and Wizkid, as part of the Sony Music family.

Michael Ugwu, General Manager, Sony Music West Africa stated, “I’m extremely proud to welcome Tinny Entertainment and the amazing talent that is YCee to the Sony Music Entertainment West Africa family.

“I’ve watched this team grow over the past few years and I am amazed at how they have navigated the industry to reach this stage. Ycee is the future of Hip Hop in Africa and will be front and centre of SME West Africa’s strategy as we take Africa to the World.”

Arokodare ‘Tinny’ Timilehin, CEO Tinny Entertainment also added, “We are very excited about the future for both YCee and Tinny Entertainment. This is a stamp of approval on all the hardwork we have put in through the years and an indication of even greater things to come.”

Born Oludemilade Martin Alejo, YCee, also a songwriter, rose to limelight after one of his singles titled “Condo”, which features vocals from Patoranking, earned him two nominations at the 2015 Nigeria Entertainment Awards.

He was also nominated in the “Best Artist in African Pop” category at the 2015 All Africa Music Awards.

Last weekend, YCee was nominated in two categories; ‘Best Hip-hop’ and ‘Breakthrough Act’ at the MTV Africa Music Awards, MAMAs 2016 held inside TicketPro Dome in Johannseburg.

He also thrilled the crowd inside the Dome with a charge performance among other stellar acts.
