These pictures show the boundary between Ebonyi and Cross River States, with the Cross River serving as a natural landmark.
This is the Ndibe Bridge in Ebonyi State, which connects to Ebom in Abi Local Government Area of Cross River State. It is a project initiated by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and spearheaded by the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi. On the left of these two pictures is Ebonyi, while on the right is Cross River.
Ndibe Beach in Ebonyi State and Ebom in Cross River State lie along a shared boundary, with the Cross River acting as a natural divider between the two communities. This area is a vital link for trade, travel, and cultural exchange.
Ndibe Beach, located in Afikpo, Ebonyi State, is a prominent riverside location that connects Ebonyi to neighboring communities in Cross River. It has long served as a strategic crossing point for travelers and traders moving between Afikpo and towns like Ebom, Erie, and Ugep in Cross River State. The Cross River itself flows between these regions, functioning both as a boundary and a conduit for commerce.
Ebom, in Cross River State, is situated directly across the river from Ndibe Beach.
The Ndibe Beach Bridge project, recently announced by the Federal Government, aims to enhance connectivity between Ebonyi and Cross River States. The bridge will link Afikpo directly to Ebom and surrounding areas, improving transportation, boosting local economies, and fostering peace between border communities.
Historically, this region has experienced boundary disputes, but recent peace-building efforts between the two states have led to agreements on infrastructure development and conflict resolution. The construction of the bridge and other joint initiatives are part of a broader strategy to solidify inter-state relations and unlock the economic potential of this riverine corridor.
