Man, 25, Arrested For Stabbing Wife To Death During A Brawl

A 25-year-old man, Sufiyanu Aliyu, has been arrested by Police operatives for allegedly stabbing his 15-year old wife, Suwaiba Abubakar Bawa, to death with a knife during brawl in Sokoto State. 

 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident  happened in Gwanyal Village, located in Tangaza Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

 

This was disclosed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Ahmad Rufai, who stated that the incident occurred on 27th October, 2025, at about 7:30 p.m.

 

The Police image maker, DSP Rufai, explained that the couple got into a heated quarrel at their residence, which quickly escalated into violence and a concerned resident of the area reportedly raised an alarm and contacted the Police after noticing the situation getting out of hand.

 

However, when the Police arrived at the scene, they discovered that the suspect, Sufiyanu Aliyu, had allegedly attacked his young wife with a knife, fatally stabbing her. The Police immediately recovered the weapon used in the attack as evidence and arrested the suspect on the spot.

 

The Police later moved the victim’s body to a nearby hospital, where a medical doctor confirmed her death.

DSP Ahmad Rufai stated that during preliminary questioning, the suspect confessed to committing the crime and the matter has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation and prosecution, ensuring that justice is served

The Police spokesperson also commended the community member who quickly informed law enforcement about the incident, urging others to always report any form of domestic violence before it turns tragic.

 

The suspect may likely be charged before the Court for murder under the Criminal Law of Sokoto State but that will be after the conclusion of investigations by the Police.
