A 32-year old lady, Boluwatife Mojeed, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly swindling her husband, Azeez Isa, to the tune of N10m under the false pretence of performing their traditional wedding, child naming ceremony and upkeep of their child, which turned out to be a scam.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that five years after, the woman, Boluwatife Mojeed, informed her husband, Azeez Isa, that the child she presented to him actually belonged to her lover, Taofeek Omobolanle and she went ahead to effect the change of name to that of the real father.

The incident happened between 2020 till June, 2025, at lgbeleri Mohammed Street, Eboni Iba, Lagos.

Shocked by Boluwatife Mojeed’s actions, the complainant reported the matter to the Police in the area. The suspect was arrested and transferred to the Gender Section of the State Command for interrogation over her alleged conduct against the complainant.

While being interrogated, she admitted to have collected the money for their traditional wedding and naming ceremony and confessed that the child actually belonged to her lover and that was why she changed the name to reflect that of the real father of the child.

However, the Police found her culpable and consequently charged her before the Ogba Magistrate Court for her alleged conduct.

Part of the charges read:

However, she pleaded not guilty.

The Prosecutor, Supol Philip Ademigbuji, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since she pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that she actually committed the alleged offence.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. Kusanu, granted her bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.

The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when she will perfect her bail conditions.
