A serving Police Officer, Inspector Ifeanyi Onyekwere, attached to Strike Force Squad at Zone 2 Command in Onikan, Lagos, has done the unthinkable by snubbing the Inspector General of Police following his outright rejection of invitation over allegations of gross misconduct against him.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the Inspector General of Police, through the office of Public Complaint Unit Force Headquarters in Abuja, summoned Inspector Ifeanyi Onyekwere over his alleged conduct against the complainant, Kolawole Oluakamo.
However, since Inspector Ifeanyi Onyekwere received the invitation signal for months now, he refused to go and insisted that if the IGP wants to see him through the complainant’s unit, they have to come to Lagos because he was not ready to go anywhere.
Inspector Onyekwere was said to have landed in trouble over his conduct by allegedly planning with a notorious land grabber, Akeem Ajakaye, to assassinate a land owner, Kolawole Oluakamo, in order to take over his land.
The incident happened at the four plots of land located at Ijagemo Road, Tailor Bus-stop, Ijagemo area in Ojo Local Government Area of Lagos State, valued at over ₦40m belonging to Mrs. Ibiyemi Iyabode, the owner of Super Star School, which she acquired several years for a school hostel.
The victim, Kolawole Oluakamo, was brutally attacked and has been lying critically ill at an undisclosed hospital, where the Doctors are battling to save his life over the bloody attack by the perpetrators, Inspector Ifeanyi Onyekwere, Akeem Ajakaye and others now at large.
The victim, Oluakamo, ran into trouble over little effort to protect family property in the Ojo area of Lagos after Inspector Ifeanyi conspired with Ajakaye to take two plots of land.
They were alleged to have shot Oluakamo, used cutlass and other dangerous weapons to attact him knowing fully that the owner, Mrs. Ibiyemi is abroad.
Apart from attempting to kill the victim,  Inspector Ifeanyi Onyekwere and Akeem Ajakaye were alleged to have destroyed the foundation and started using the blocks and iron to build on the same land.
According to Oluakamo, the land — four plots, has been under his lawful care for over 10 years without any issues until earlier this year when Inspector Ifeanyi Onyekwene teamed up with some land thugs (“omo onile”) and local family heads to seize the property by force.
He alleged that the family head, Mr. Akeem Ajakaye, conspired with the Police officer and hired thugs to eliminate him. The attacks, he claimed, reached a terrifying peak on 23rd September, 2025, when armed men allegedly ambushed, beat him mercilessly and warned him to stay away from the property or face death.
He narrated that when he later discovered that Inspector Ifeanyi Onyekwere was serving at Zone 2 Command, he went there and reported and the Zone 2 Command discovered that he had proven evidence against the suspects.
Inspector Ifeanyi, having realized that the evidence against him was weighty, he quickly hijacked the matter and transferred it to Force Headquarters Annex, Kam Salem House at Obalande, Lagos, while the investigation was still going on.
He stated that at the Kam Salem House, one of the Police officers, identified as Obi Stanley, seized his phone, deleted recorded evidence and threatened to lock him up after a heated argument with his lawyer.
Following the conduct of Inspector Ifeanyi Onyekwere, the complainant wrote a petition to the IGP, who directed the Public Complaints Unit to invite Inspector Ifeanyi Onyekwere for interview to the Force Headquarters Abuja. But he refused to go for the interview after repeated reminders by Force Headquarters.
The Police Public Relations Officer of Zone 2 Command, CSP Ayuba Umma, confirmed the case and noted that the officer involved is currently under investigation.
“The concerned Police officer, Inspector Ifeanyi Onyekwere, is under investigation over the matter. We are aware and remain committed to upholding professional conduct among our officers,” Ayuba stated.
She disclosed that the officer had been invited by the Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 2, Mr. Adegoke Fayoade, and she was aware that Inspector Ifeanyi Onyekwere has been invited for interview at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
However, the PPRO is not aware that Inspector Ifeanyi Onyekwere has refused to go to the Inspector General of Police for the interview.
Meanwhile, findings at the Survey Department revealed that the land in question, as registered with the State Secretariat, belonged to Mrs. Ibiyemi.
