A 35-year-old man, Afeez Adewale, may have found himself on the wrong side of the law in the early hours of 24th November, 2025, at about around 1:30 AM while carrying live sheep suspected to have been stolen in Lagos State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that some Police officers on routine monitoring saw him in the Ishefun Area of Ayobo, Lagos, with a live sheep and some plantains in his possession. The officers accosted him having the suspicion that the sheep may have been stolen. And rightly so, Afeez could not answer satisfactorily how he got the sheep and where he was taking it to that early morning.
Thus,  he was arrested and detained at the station for interrogation. And as he was not able to explain anything concerning the sheep, he was found culpable and then charged before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for the alleged offence under the vriminal law of the State.
The charge read:
“That you, Afeez Adewale, on the 24/11/2025 at about 0130hrs at Ishefun Area, Ayobo Lagos in Ejigbo Magisterial District, was found having in your possession one live sheep and some quantity of plantain reasonably suspected to have been stolen, which you failed to give a satisfactory account of and thereby committed an offense contrary to and punishable under Section 329(c) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”
However, he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Inspector Simeon Njue, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. F.R. Ogunkoyede, granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned till 6th February, 2026, for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
