Man, 22, Arraigned For Beating Up 2 Police Officers Over Attempts To Arrest  Him

A 22-year old man, Qwam Ariyo, has landed in trouble in Lagos State for allegedly attacking and assaulting two Police officers over attempts to arrest him for allegedly assaulting  a woman, Eucharia Okafor, over an undisclosed quarrel. 
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Ariyo, has been arrested and charged over his alleged conduct.
The incident happened on 24th November, 2025, at Prophet Ayodele Street, Whitesand, Four Square Bus Stop, Isheri Oshun, Lagos.
The suspect allegedly assaulted the woman and when the Police officers from Ishri Oshun Division went to arrest him, Ariyo allegedly resisted arrest and assaulted the Police officers, Superintendent Osemene Helen and Inspector Ogundare Olutope and tore his uniform.
However, the Police reinforced, eventually arrested and detained him at the station over his alleged conduct.
He was consequently charged before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for the alleged offence, which attracts several years of imprisonment.
The charges read :
COUNT I: “That you, Qwam Ariyo, on 24/11/2025 at about 1430hrs at No.4, Prophet Ayodele Street, Whitesand at Four Square Bus Stop, Isheri Oshun, Lagos, in the Lagos State magisterial district, did conduct yourself in a manner likely to cause a breach of the peace by resisting Police arrest, and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 168(d) law of Lagos State, Nigeria 2015.”
COUNT II:That you  Qwam Ariyo  on the same date, place and time at the aforementioned magisterial district did unlawfully assault AP/NO. 185923 W/ASP Osemene Helen AP/N0.254902 INSPR. Ogundare Olutope ‘M’ despite that Inspr Ogundare Olutope was on full Police uniform with rifle when you were arrested for a case of assault reported by one Eucharia Okafor ‘F’, and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 172 law of Lagos state, Nigeria 2015.”
COUNT III:”That you, Qwam Ariyo, on the same date, place and time at the aforementioned magisterial district, did maliciously tore a Nigeria Police uniform of one AP/N0.254902 INSPR. Ogundare Olutope ‘M’ attached to Isheri Oshun Division, which caused damage to the uniform and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 339 of the criminal law of Lagos State, Nigeria 2015.”
He pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor,  Inspector Simeon Njue, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. F.R.Ogunkoyede, granted him bail in the sum of N300,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned till 18th December, 2025, for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
