Afeez Aremu Cup: Ayatu’s Free Kick Lands Dosu Boys To S/ Final

A superb free kick from Akindele Ayatu was Dosu Joseph Football Club needed to defeat Obafortune FC in the quarter final of Afeez Aremu Cup, which was held on Friday at the RVTC mini stadium, Isheri, Berger, Ojodu,Lagos.

The pulsating tie, which was watched by a mammoth crowd, ended in a barren draw at the first half before a free kick was well taken by Ayatu in the 66th minute to seal 1-0 victory over their opponents at the regulation time.

Speaking after the match, Dosu Joseph Coach, Kayode Agboola expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the match but charged his boys to improve their game in the subsequent match.

“It was a tough match for my boys, and I am happy it ended 1-0 in favour of my team.Our opponents gave us a good fight, and I must commend my boys for their resilience throughout the game.

“However, we are looking forward to the semifinal match, and I am urging my boys to improve in their performance so that we can achieve our set objective, “he said.

In the second quarter final match, B-Basic also defeated Excel FA 1-0 to reach the semifinal stage.Dunga Jacobs also scored through freek kick to give B-Basic needed victory to reach the semifinal stage.

Reacting to the victory, B-Basic Coach, Waheed Fasasi commended his boys for the hard-fought victory saying that he would work on the grey areas of the team before their next game.

Meanwhile two quarter final matches would play on Monday when Magboro FC take on Best Talent by 8am as Shuffle Select face FC Gemstones by 9:30am.
