Soludo Issues Passionate Plea To Southeast Youths: “Enlist In The Armed Forces, Be Co-owners Of Nigeria”

As the nation marked the 2026 Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day, Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo delivered a stirring call to action to the youth of the South East, urging them to shun self-marginalization and join the Nigerian Armed Forces. Speaking at the wreath-laying ceremony in Awka, the Anambra State capital, the Governor emphasized the need for the region to fully reintegrate into all national institutions and participate as “co-owners” of the Nigerian project.

Reflecting on the 56th anniversary of the end of the Nigerian Civil War, Governor Soludo described the conflict as “needless” and stressed that the “no victor, no vanquished” philosophy must remain a guiding light for the nation. He paid a heartfelt tribute to all who have paid the supreme price since the war, noting that the day’s ceremony was a solemn reminder of the devastating consequences of conflict.

The Governor’s address was laced with emotion as he lamented the low enlistment rates of Anambra indigenes in the national security architecture, describing it as a form of “self-marginalization.” He challenged the youth to see the military as a platform for national service and a way to secure their stake in the country. “We must participate as co-owners of Project Nigeria,” he declared, adding that the region must move beyond the shadows of the past and fully engage with the rest of the country.

Governor Soludo’s plea was not limited to the youth alone; he also issued a passionate appeal to those currently involved in violent agitation and “living in the bushes” to come out and renounce violence. “The terror era is over,” he declared. “I call on our brothers in the bushes to come out. We will help you to become useful citizens of the state.”

The Governor commended the President and the various Service Commanders in Anambra for their steadfastness in the face of security challenges, expressing unwavering confidence that the current wave of terror would be decisively dealt with.
