Man, 29, Arraigned For Recording Policeman While Collecting Money On Highway

A 29-year old man, Akinbile Muhammed, has landed in trouble for allegedly recording a Police officer while performing his lawful duty on highway and allegedly collecting money from motorists in Lagos State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that he was caught and charged before the Court for obstruction of lawful duty.
The incident happened on 9th December, 2025, at Dopemu area of Lagos, while the Police was on duty on the highway.
According to the Police, the suspect used his phone’s camera to record the Police officer before he was caught, arrested and then detained at the Dopermu Police Divisional Headquarters Agege Lagos.
During the altercation, the suspect was alleged to have damaged the Police patrol vehicle and tore the uniform of Constabulary Olayiwola Olalekan in the process.
He was found culpable and charged before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence which attracts several years of imprisonment.
The charges read:
“That you, Akinbile Muhammed ‘M’ and others now at large, on the 9th day of December, 2025 at about 1700 hrs, at Dopemu area, Lagos State, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did conspire amongst yourselves to commit felony to wit conspiracy and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 411 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”
COUNT II::”That you, Akinbile Muhammed ‘M’ and others now at large, on the same date, time and place, in the aforementioned Magisterial District, did unlawfully obstruct a Police officer while carrying out his lawful duties at Dopemu area of Lagos State by recording him and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 168 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”
COUNT Ill :”That you, Akinbile Muhammed ‘M’ and others now at large, on the same date, time and place, in the aforementioned Magisterial District, did unlawfully assault a Police Constabulary Olayiwola Olalekan ‘m’ and tore his uniform and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 173 of the Cominal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”
COUNT IV :” That you, Akinbile Muhammed ‘M’ and others now at large, on the same date, time and place, in the aforementioned Magisterial District, did unlawfully damage Police Patrol vehicle belonging to Dopermu Divisional Police Headquarters, Agege Lagos, which caused damage to the vehicle’s door thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 451 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.”
However, he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Supol Josephine Ihkayere, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. L.A. Owolabi, granted him bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
