Man, 72, Arraigned For Allegedly Stealing Neighbour’s Goat

Police operative from the Ekiti State Command have arrested a 72-year-old man, Ojo Ezekiel, for allegedly stealing a goat in his neighbourhood in the early hours of the morning.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Ezekiel, has been charged before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrate Court over his alleged conduct.
The incident happened on 22nd January 2026, at about 1:45 am in Ijero-Ekiti.
He was apprehended and detained at the station for interrogation after he was caught with the goat for interrogation and was found culpable for allegedly stealing the goat.
Thus, he was charged before the Court for the alleged offence which attracts several years of imprisonment.
The prosecutor, Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the defendant, on January 22, 2026, at about 1:45 am in Ijero-Ekiti, stole a goat and committed an offence punishable under Section 416 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State (2021).
The defendant pleaded not guilty.
The Counsel to the defendant, Barrister Joy Raphael, told the Court to grant the defendant bail on liberal terms, assuring the court that he would not jump bail.
The presiding Chief Magistrate, Mr. Abayomi Adeosun, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N20,000 with one surety in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and address will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned till 13th February, 2026, for hearing while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
