Pro- Wrestling Africa, the body charged with developing professional wrestling in all African countries, is set to organize a memorable 11th anniversary of its formation on Wednesday, February 4, 2026

Founded on February 4, 2015, at a summit in Yaoundé, the Cameroonian capital, the body is a continental professional wrestling organization dedicated to growing pro wrestling across Africa, with not just a single promotion with occasional shows; it aims to act as the continental governing and developmental force for professional wrestling on the African continent.

According to the Secretary General of the continental body, Olusesan Olukoya, their mission is to build a structured, internationally recognized professional wrestling ecosystem in Africa; elevating local talent, creating development pathways, establishing championships, and staging marquee events.

Olukoya, a long-time wrestling promoter, manager, columnist, historian, and activist with nearly four decades in the sport and a leading visionary behind PWA’s mission, said that the body is celebrating eleven years of existence because of what it has achieved since its formation.

“When we look back at what we have achieved since coming on board, we know that it calls for celebration.
PWA runs training centres and development programs in several West African countries, with training initiatives bringing together wrestlers and coaches from many nations to strengthen regional skill levels.

“The organization has also forged alliances with wrestling bodies outside Africa, including the Allied Independent Wrestling Federations (AIWF) in the USA, the Global Wrestling Federacy in Florida, and European partners such as Brussels Young Wrestling Style in Belgium and Heros Pro Wrestling in France to advance training and exposure opportunities for African wrestlers.

“It’s on record that PWA since its formation, supports major events like the Ododo Peace & Unity Championship, Aiyedatiwa World Pro Wrestling championship and working to bring African talent to international audiences by hosting shows, matches and coordinating championship opportunities that feature wrestlers from across Africa and beyond.

” PWA also organized events like the Mid-Year Pro Wrestling Championship in Lagos that featured wrestlers from across Africa and beyond (e.g., USA, Ghana, Liberia, Cameroon), showcasing cross-border talent and raising the profile of African wrestling programs.

“Beyond athletics, the organization also seeks to document African wrestling history, preserve heritage through halls of fame and libraries, and celebrate legends of the sport.

Olukoya noted that PWA activities and collaborations clearly position it as one of the key driving forces behind modern professional wrestling in Africa, helping expand the sport’s reach regionally and internationally and as such deserves to celebrate its numerous achievements under eleven years of existence.

Meanwhile, as part of activities marking the 11th anniversary celebration, the PWA scribe, which is currently in Belgium, will be presenting an award of Patronship to Hon. Irom Agbor Awassam, while Actu fight Belgium, too will present two awards to himself, National Chairman of Nigeria Football Supporters Club, Rev (Amb) Samuel Ikpea and Irom Awassam.
