Man, 26, Docked For Selling Victim’s N5.3m Car & Converting Money For Personal Use

A 26-year old man, Taiwo Abdulafeex Isitijaba, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly selling a car belonging to another man, Quzeem Ishola Saniff and converting the money to his personal use.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened sometime in August, 2025, at Orija Street, Meiran area of Lagos.
According to the Police, the suspect collected the car from the complainant and promised to help him to sell it in order for him to buy another car. But he sold the vehicle and used the money for his personal use.
After selling the car, he bolted away with the money, disconnected every communication he had with the complainant and went into hiding.
The matter was reported to the Police at Meiran Division. The Police operatives moved into action, eventually arrested and detained the suspect at the station for interrogation over his alleged conduct.
While being interrogated, the Police discovered that he sold the car and had spent the whole money, which he claimed to have used to solve his personal problems.
The Police found him culpable and charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence which attracts several years of imprisonment.
The charges read:
“That you, Taiwo Abdulafeex Isitijaba sometime in August 2025, at Orija Street, Lagos in the Ikeja Magisterial district, did collect a Muazu car valued the sum of N5,300,000 (Five Million Three Hundred Thousand Naira) only from one Quzeem Ishola Saniff, with the promise to sell it for him and to buy him another car, but didn’t, you sold the vehicle and used the money for your own personal use and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 314 of the criminal law of Lagos State Nigeria 2015.”
Count II:”That you, Taiwo Abdulafeex Isitijaba, of the same address and same date in the Ikeja Magisterial district, did sold Muazu car valued the sum of N5,300,000 (Five Million Three Hundred Thousand Nara from one Quzeem Ishola Saniff and converted it to your own use, and thereby conducted yourself in a manner to cause the breach of peace and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 168(d) of the criminal law of Lagos State Nigeria 2015.”
Count III:”That you, Taiwo Abdulafeex Isitijaba of the same address and same date in the Ikeja Magisterial district did sold a Muazu car valued the sum of N5,300,000 (Five Million Three Hundred Thousand Naira) only property of one Quzeem Ishola Saniff and stole the money by converting it to your own personal use and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section (280(1 of the criminal law of Lagos State Nigeria 2015.”
He pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Supol Philip Ademigbuji, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. Kusanu, granted him bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
