The Nigeria Archery Federation (NAFED) has officially flagged off its 2026 sporting calendar with the announcement of the National Archery Open Championship scheduled to hold in Abuja from April 20–26, 2026.

In a decisive move to ensure a world-class and seamlessly executed championship, the President of the Federation, Mohammed Abdullahi, has constituted nine strategic committees to drive the planning and delivery of the event.

According to Abdullahi, the Federation has meticulously assembled committees covering Technical, Finance, Marketing, Transport, Accommodation, Security, Protocol & Ceremonial, Safety & Medical, Secretariat, and Media & Publicity.
The Media & Publicity Committee will be chaired by Patrick Ibeh, with Phemmy Adetula appointed as Vice Chairman. Other members include Martins Odiete, Amar Ignis, Aisha Oladipo, and Farouk Mohammed, who will serve as Secretary.

“The constitution of these committees underscores our commitment to excellence, transparency, and professionalism as we prepare to host a championship that will elevate the standard of archery in Nigeria,” Abdullahi stated.

The Federation also announced that payment of the statutory annual license fee is mandatory for participation. All athletes must present proof of payment duly endorsed by the Federation, with licenses valid through 2026. Eligible participants may be nominated by states, clubs, institutions, academies, or may register as individual competitors.

The 2026 National Archery Open Championship is poised to be a landmark event, reinforcing the Federation’s resolve to expand the frontiers of archery development and talent discovery across Nigeria.
