Man, 42, Docked For Recruiting Self Into Nigerian Military As Senior Officer 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect,  Kabiru Abubakar, was apprehended on 26th January, 2026, at Iyana Ishashi area of Lagos, with a Military camouflage uniform acting as a Military officer.

He was however, accosted by the Commissioner of Police Tactical Team of the State Command and he still insisted that he was a Military Officer and was then detained at the Command Headquarters for further investigation.

During the investigation, the Police contacted the Provost of the Nigerian Army 81 Division Provost Company, Ojo, Lagos and he was found to be a fake officer.

He then confessed that he was actually the person that recruited himself into the Nigeria Military for several years and was not engaged by the Military Authority.

The Police found him culpable and charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence which attracts several years of imprisonment.

The charges read:

“That you, Kabiru Abubakar, ‘m’ on the 26th day of January, 2026 at about 1420hrs, at Iyana Ishashi area of Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did impersonate yourselves to be a member of Nigerian Army, and after being investigated by Nigerian Army 81 Division Provost Company, Ojo, Lagos, you were found to be a fake Nigeria Army Officer as you claimed and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.”

COUNT II:”That you, Kabiru Abubakar ‘m’ on the same date, time and place, in the aforesaid Magisterial District, did intentionally put on a military camouflage face cap with intent that on your appearance you purported to be acting as a genuine serving Nigerian Army personnel and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 363(1)(a)(b)(2)(c) and punishable under Section 365(1)(2)(a&b) of the Criminál Law of Lagos State, 2015.”

However, he pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Supol Philip Ademigbuji, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. Kusanu, granted him bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.

The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
