The Macallan Reimagines ‘Double Cask’ And ‘Sherry Oak’ Collections With Refined New Look

Posted on March 20, 2026

The Macallan, world-renowned single-malt Scotch whisky, is set to introduce a new chapter in its visual identity with the unveiling of its redesigned Double Cask and Sherry Oak Collections through the Aquarius launch, which will debut in Nigeria in April 2026.

The launch marks the brand’s transition from its existing packaging to a new visual identity.

Known globally for its uncompromising approach to quality and patience, the transition represents a brand evolution moment that reinforces The Macallan’s craftsmanship, progress and premium positioning, while preserving the liquid that has defined the brand for generations.

The new design will be launched across three key Nigerian cities, Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt, reinforcing the brand’s commitment to engaging premium whisky consumers, trade partners and cultural tastemakers where modern luxury conversations are already thriving.

For The Macallan, the transition is not about replacement but continuity. While the bottles have evolved, the whisky remains unchanged, offering the same balanced, elegant and refined character that has earned the brand its reputation.

To highlight the significance of the Aquarius launch in Nigeria, Hammed Adebiyi, Senior Brand Manager, West and Central Africa (WACA), Edrington, explained how the redesign reinforces The Macallan’s heritage, craftsmanship, and commitment to consumers.

“The Aquarius launch is an exciting moment for The Macallan in Nigeria. It reflects our commitment to evolving thoughtfully while staying true to the heritage and craftsmanship that define the brand. For consumers, trade partners, and whisky enthusiasts, the new visual identity offers a clearer, more engaging way to experience the portfolio, without altering the exceptional whisky they have come to know and trust,” he said.

Central to the redesign is a renewed focus on clarity and storytelling.

The new bottle design make it easier for consumers to navigate The Macallan portfolio while drawing a stronger visual connection between the whisky, the oak casks that shape it and the estate where it matures.

Every detail of the new look was considered to ensure the packaging reflects both the brand’s heritage and its forward momentum, from the refined silhouette of the bottle to the tactile experience of opening it.

The creative direction for the new identity was led by celebrated graphic designer, David Carson, a long-time collaborator of The Macallan.

Carson’s approach draws on symbols from the brand’s first 200 years while imagining how it should present itself for the future.

The redesigned The Macallan bottle draws inspiration from the distillery’s sweeping roof and retains the familiar triangular shoulder label as a nod to its heritage and the integral Sherry Triangle.

This new packaging enhances the brand’s narrative through features like new cask symbols, anti-counterfeit technology, and a focus on sustainability, all while respecting the brand’s history and progressive spirit.

For Nigerian consumers, the April 2026 launch represents more than the arrival of new bottles on shelves.

It is an invitation to reconnect with The Macallan’s story at a moment when premium whisky culture continues to grow across lounges, bars, hotels and private collections.

By pairing heritage with modern design and reinforcing that only the bottle has changed, The Macallan is positioning the new identity as a confident evolution that respects its past while speaking to the expectations of today’s luxury audience.
