Man, 23, Arrested With Gun Inside Ikeja City Mall

A 23-year old man, Kelechi Emmanuel, has been arrested and charged for allegedly being in possession of a gun at Ikeja City Mall, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 1st March, 2026.
He was arrested by the Police operatives from the Commissioner of Police Special Tactical team of the State Command and detained for interrogation.
While being interrogated, he was unable to explain what he was using the gun for and how he got it.
The Police found him culpable and charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for conspiracy and unlawful possession of firearms under the Criminal law of the State.
The charges read:
“That you, Kelechi Emmanuel ‘m’ and others now at large, on the 1st day of March, 2026, at about 0400hrs, at Ikeja City Mall, Alausa Lagos, in the Lagos Magisteria District, did conspire amongst yourselves to commit felony to wit: unlawful possession of firearm and thereby committed an offence contrary to anc punishable under Section 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.
COUNT II: “That you, Kelechi Emmanuel ‘m’ and others now at large, on the same date, time and place, in the aforesaid Magisterial District, did unlawfully have in your possession, one locally made cut to size single barrel gun, which you could not give satisfactory account of how you came about it and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 330(d) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”
However, he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Supol Josephine Ihkayere, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. L.A. Owolabi, granted him bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
