Art: The ‘Transformation’ From Puberty To Womanhood
ABOUT THE WORK
Every girl is born but no woman is born. Girls grow into women. Between age 10 and 14, and up till about twenty years of age, the girl experiences changes in her both physically and mentally. It is said that during this period called puberty, she leaves girlhood and embarks on the journey to womanhood.
The first part of this work is the picture of the human brain and the second part is the drawings of signs of womanhood and characters of the woman. The woman is patient, lovely, loving, caring, hopeful, protective, courageous, and wise. She is a risk taker. She knows what to do at every point in time and she delights in doing good.
Womanhood to me, is not the physical change rather, it is more of the mental change, that is why I call it TRANSFORMATION. The mind and perception of the woman is what differentiates it from that of the girl. Womanhood is a thing of the mind.
My favorite part in this painting is the brain. In fact, of all the parts of the body, the brain is the most amazing. The other part of the painting is also very important to me, that is why I painstakingly wrote down those characters because every woman should possess them.

ARTIST STATEMENT
I have always been in need of an outlet for my emotions and a peaceful zone to rest my mind at least while life Last. This is why I am an artist.
I am fascinated about the human body especially that of the woman and coming from the part of the world (Africa) where women are not really appreciated, I hope to make the world see the beauty in the woman and her life.
I hope that anyone who views my work will travel into the state I’m in when I paint, a moment of rest and a heart-expanding and mind-soothing experience and more especially, a moment of beauty.
There is abundant beauty in the life and body of the woman and I think the world needs to know it.
