A 30-year old man, Mutaru Ojo, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly defiling a 10-year old student inside the bush.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, an artisan (a rewire), who resides at Mojoda Toll Gate in Epe, allegedly committed the offence on 27th March, 2026, at Mojoda Elepe in Epe.
The prosecutor, Supol Philip Ademigbuji told the Court that the victim’s mother, who is a food vendor, had sent her home to change her school uniform but later found her near a bush close to their house, stained with blood.
The Prosecutor said that the girl reportedly named the defendant as the perpetrator of the offence, which contravened the provisions of Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Thus, the matter was reported to the Police and the defendant was arrested and detained for interrogation.
After the investigation, the Police found him culpable and charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence which attracts several years of imprisonment.
The prosecutor asked the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice.
The Presiding Magistrate, Omolara Kushanu, declined to take the defendant’s plea and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP for advice.
The matter was adjourned till 21st May, 2026, for the report of the DPP’s advice to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction
